PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Baseball Calgary has not only had a lot of recent team successes, but it is most proud of its tradition of developing players to reach their potential. Below are just some recent successes, including players drafted by the MLB and receiving baseball scholarships among other highlights.

 


2009 Player Achievements:

Baseball Calgary would like to congratulate the following players for their achievements this past season:

·        Travis Wallace was named to the 15U Provincial Prospects Team as well as helping lead the Zone team to a Bronze medal.

·        Along with Travis, Jason Field, Mike Bell and Mitch Campbell were also selected to the Zone Team

·        Logan Bailey was named to the 16U Provincial Prospects Team

·        Donovan Feenstra was named to the 17U Canada Cup Team

·        Andrew Malone was named to the Canada Summer Games Team

·        Both Jordan Wong and Dale Anderson were selected in the MLB Entry Draft.

 

  

 

2008 Player Achievements:

Baseball Calgary players help Zone team to Alberta Summer Games Gold Medal!

Congratulations to the Zone 3 baseball team representing Calgary which won the 2008 Alberta Summer Games.  Martin Brickland and Logan Bailey of the Baseball Calgary Bantam team helped the team go 5-0 to take home the Gold Medal.

 

Calgary Cub named Provincial Championship MVP!

Adrian Malana who was one batter away from throwing a complete game no-hitter in the Provincial championship game, helping lead the Cubs to a Gold medal, was honoured by being named MVP of the tournament.

 

Former Calgary Cub, Aaron Dunsmore signs for NCAA Division I team

Congratulations to Aaron Dunsmore who has signed to play with the University of Dayton, Ohio for the 2008/2009 season.  Aaron received an academic and baseball scholarship from the University of Dayton Flyers.

 

2007 Player Achievements:

Dale Anderson of Midget team signs NCAA Division I Letter of Intent
Congratulations to
 Dale Anderson who has signed a Letter of Intent with the University of Buffalo.   Dale was offered an athletic and academic scholarship and will play with the Buffalo Bulls of NCAA Division I in the fall of 2008.  Congratulations to Dale who is the latest of several Baseball Calgary players to go on to play US College Ball.  Read Calgary Herald article, or click here to see scan.

 

Calgary Cub player named PeeWee Baseball Alberta Player of the Year!
Martin Brickland of the Baseball Calgary Pee Wee Cubs has been voted as the Pee Wee Performance Player of the Year for Baseball 
Alberta.   The voting was conducted by all provincial coaches.  Congratulations Martin!

 

Congratulations to Calgary Midget players picked up to play at Nationals

Josh Stephenson and Jason Luce were both picked up by the Spruce Grove team that represented Alberta in the Canadian Nationals.  Alberta was very well represented on the national stage. 

 

Calgary Cub player selected by Team Alberta

Martin Brickland has been picked up by the Red Deer Team to represent Alberta at the PeeWee National Championships in Quebec City ,on August 14th-20th. Red Deer won the right to represent Alberta by winning the national qualifier tournament to go along with their 22-2 regular season record.   Congratulations Martin, and best of luck in Quebec!

 

Calgary Cub Player Selected To Play For Team Canada!

Congratulations to current Calgary Cub player Dale Anderson and former Cub and current Langley Blaze player Ryan Kennedy on being selected to try out for the Canadian Junior National Team.  Between May 23 and June 1 these players will play a series of games against the Dominican Republic’s professional teams.

Kennedy makes Team Canada

Baseball Calgary would like to congratulate former Cub Ryan Kennedy on being selected to participate with Team Canada Jr. team this fall.  We wish Ryan all the best of luck and hope that he makes the final squad for 2007.

 

Six Midget players selected Team Alberta`s Canada Cup Squad

The Calgary Cubs had 6 players selected to the Team Alberta Canada Cup team.  Zane Anderson, Matt Diteljan, Jason Luce, Junior Nicholls, David Reiniger, Brendon Sutherland.  Dale Anderson was selected as an alternate.  Good luck to all the boys!

 

Junior Nicholls receives scholarship

Congratulations to Junior Nicholls who will be attending College in Burlington, Iowa on a baseball scholarship in the fall.

 

Calgary well represented at All-Star game

Six Cubs players and 2 coaches were include on the Team South all-star roster at the NorWest Midget League All-Star game.  Players include Aaron Dunsmore, Matt Diteljan, Jason Luce, Junior Nicholls, David Reiniger and Brendon Sutherland.  Cubs coach AJ Fystro was named as the head coach, and assistant Steve Sullivan was also invited as a coach. 

 

Four players selected to attend Vauxhall

Dale Anderson, Zane Anderson, Jason Luce and David Reiniger have all been recruited and selected to attend the Vauxhaull Baseball Academy's inaugural season in the fall.

 

Three Cubs selected to play in Provincials
Justin Martel, Tyler McCartney and Tyler Dunsmore have all been picked up to play at Tier I Provincials.

 

Calgary Cubs picked up by Team Alberta

Congratulations to Aaron Dunsmore and Connor Hodgins for being picked up by the Red Deer Team representing Alberta at the Westerns in Winnipeg. Team Alberta brought home the Silver Medal. Team Alberta fell short in the Gold Medal Game falling 8-7 to Team BC.  Aaron Dunsmore  had a grand slam against Team Manitoba to lead Team Alberta to an 11-1 Victory and 2 RBI's against Team Saskatchewan to help lead Alberta to a thrilling 12th inning victory.    Congratulations to all of Team Alberta and their efforts in bringing Alberta the silver at the Western Canadian Championships.


Five Cubs Named to the 16U Prospects Team

Congratulations to the following Calgary Cubs for making the 16 and under Prospects team:  Jason Luce, Zane Anderson, JR Nicholls, Brendon Sutherland and David Reiniger.

 

Coach of the Year
Baseball Calgary is proud to announce that Kirk Reiniger has won the 
AABC Coach of the Year Award.  Congratulations Kirk! 

2005 Player Achievements:

Cubs lead Zone 2 team to Alberta Zone Championship

Congratulations to TC Ring and Dale Anderson who played on the Zone 2 team which won Gold at the 15U Zone Championship in Lethbridge.

 

Cub named Championship Game MVP

Jason Luce who led the Midget Performance Cubs to a Provincial Championship was named MVP of the Championship game.

 

Two Baseball Calgary Cubs Drafted

Baseball Calgary would like to congratulate Chris Copot and Garrett Regan for being drafted in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft.   Copot, a catcher from Prairie Baseball Academy and former Baseball Calgary product, was drafted in the 42nd round by the Milwaukee Brewers.  Regan, an outfielder for the Calgary Cubs Midget Performance Team was also drafted by the Brewers in the 50th round. 

 

Cubs Players Picked up for Championships

·        Dale Anderson was picked up by St. Albert who are representing Alberta at the Baseball Canada Bantam National Championships in Windsor, Ontario.

·        Matt Colson was picked up to join Spruce Grove at the Baseball Canada Midget National Championship in Trois Rivieres, Quebec

·        Connor Hodgins and Aaron Dunsmore were picked up to join Red Deer at the Western Canadian Baseball Championships in Winnipeg.

 

Four chosen for Team Alberta
Congratulations to
 Aaron Dunsmore, Ryan Kennedy, JR Nichols and Garret Regan for making the 2005 Youth Selects Canada Cup.
